National Guitars logo

In 1927, National produced the first
mechanically amplified guitar--The Tricone.
National Reso-Phonic Guitars is honored
to carry on that tradition
of quality and craftsmanship.
We at Pittsburgh Guitars
are proud to carry this fine product!

National single cone resonator
Single Cone

At the heart of every National instrument is the resonator cone. The resonator mechanically amplifies the true, sweet tone produced by the strings.

Here's some info about the models available:
Style 0
The brass body of the Style "0" single resonator is etched with the traditional Hawaiian motif front and back plus a side-stripe, then it is nickel plated. The hardrock maple neck with slotted headstock has an ebony fretboard bound in crossgrain ivoroid. (Style "N" is available for those who prefer no etching.)
Style "1" Tricone
The Style "1" has a clear nickel-plated brass body, mahogany neck, bound ebony fretboard and 3-on-a-plate vintage-style tuners on the slotted headstock.
Style "3" Single Cone
The Style "1" has a clear nickel plated brass body, mahogany neck, bound ebony fretboard and 3-on-a-plate vintage-style tuners on the slotted headstock.
Style "4" Tricone
The Style "4" has an elaborate hand-engraved Chrysanthemum pattern and the beautiful tonal qualities of its nickel-plated brass body. A bound ebony fretboard with diamond fret markers and ivoroid headstock overlay and heelcap grace the mahogany neck.
Polychrome Tricone
A National Reso-Phonic first: the Polychrome Tricone has a 3-cone resonator and an all-steel body. This instrument has a maple neck, bound rosewood fretboard and `30's-style headstock overlay on the solid peghead. It is available in a variety of monochromatic baked "appliance" finishes.
The Delphi
The Delphi is a traditionally shaped, single resonator, steel body guitar with a mahogany neck, bound rosewood fretboard, and slotted headstock. It is available in a variety of monochromatic baked "appliance" finishes.
