Used 1996 Martin HD-28V at Pittsburgh Guitars 1996 Martin HD-28V
Natural finish and in excellent overall condition. This used Vintage Series model features a solid spruce top and solid East Indian rosewood back and sides, all with a polished gloss finish, vintage "Butterbean" tuners, scalloped X bracing, and Martin's famous herringbone trim and zig-zag backstripe. It has some pickwear, and a drawing on the heelcap. Price includes non-original hard Martin case. (picture - 2 - 3 - 4)
Used 1996 Martin HD-28V at Pittsburgh Guitars 2005 Guild D-55
Natural finish on one of Guild's top-of-the-line dreadnoughts. Made in Tacoma, WA, this guitar features a solid spruce top, and solid rosewood back and sides. It has a bound ebony fingerboard with ornate mother-of-pearl/abalone inlays, abalone soundhole inlays, and gold hardware. It's in excellent condition with some lacquer chips on the edges of the binding, front and back. The bridge was lifting slightly when we got it, and it was professionally reglued in our shop. An unusually clean example of a guitar with this many years under its belt. Black gloss finish, bound rosewood fingerboard with decorative cut-diamond inlays, and a unique neck-tilt adjustment. It's in excellent overall condition, with the small dings and chips you'd expect, some light finish checking, and wear on the back edge of the headstock. It's been set up in our shop; the neck-tilt adjustment works just as it should! Price includes original hard case. (picture - 2 - 3 - 4 - 5 - 6)
Used 2005 Alvarez MD70 at Pittsburgh Guitars 2005 Alvarez MD70
From the Alvarez Masterworks Series, this satin finish dreadnought guitar features a solid cedar top and solid East Indian rosewood back and sides. It has a bound rosewood fingerboard, and abalone soundhole inlay. It's in excellent condition, with a couple very small dings. Price includes original hard case. (picture - 2 - 3)

In excellent condition, made in Korea. Features include a chrome steel top, back and sides, mahogany neck with rosewood fretboard, biscuit bridge, and Grover tuners. Price includes hard case. (picture - 2)

Natural finish, with a solid cedar top and mahognay back and sides, and factory installed electronics. It is in excellent condition with some wear around the sound hole. Price includes gig bag. (picture - 2)
Used Seagull Coastline S-12 Cedar at Pittsburgh Guitars Seagull Coastline S-12 Cedar 12-String
Natural finish on a solid cedar top, wild cherry back and sides, and a silver leaf maple neck. This 12-string is in excellent condition with a couple light surface scratches. Price includes gig bag. (picture - 2 - 3)

Banjos, Ukes, and Mandolins

Famous the world over in its time, and highly sought after by dance band players in the 1920s, Paramount banjos were marketed as "The Banjo with Piano Volume and Harp Quality." The position markers are a fancy pearl design, and the headstock is decorated with stylish pearl inlays. This banjo is almost completely original, with calfskin head, and in excellent overall condition given its age. It has assorted dings and scratches, one replacement tuner, and the playwear you'd expect from an 86-year old instrument. There is a crack in the heel that was repaired when we got it. The smallest tenor banjo we have ever seen! This 29 inch tip-to-tailpiece banjo has an ebony fingerboard with pearl dot inlays, a 19" scale, an elevated pickguard, a working trap door, and an "Amrawco" calfskin head. It is in great shape for an instrument that is almost 100 years old. It has the expected dings, scratches, and playwear, and it has a heel crack that was repaired before we got it. Price includes a non-original, but vintage, hard case. (picture - 2 - 3 - 4 - 5 - 6 - 7 - 8)
c. 1923 Gibson TB-1 tenor banjo at Pittsburgh Guitars c. 1950s Martin Style O Soprano Ukulele
A clean example from the 1950s, solid mahogany, with some scratches and dings. Plays great, holds its tuning forever, and sounds rich and sweet. Price includes a non-original hard padded case. (picture - 2 - 3 - 4 - 5 - 6)

Key to Descriptions

Before we sell any used instrument, we send it through our repair shop for a complete set up. But because they're used, we've worked out the following descriptions to let you know how used they are. We'll be happy to give you more information via phone or email.

Mint Condition--like new, no wear
Excellent condition
--some play wear, maybe some small dings or light surface scratches
Very good condition
--a few scratches, some dings and/or lacquer chips, but structurally sound, normal play wear
Good condition--structurally sound, has been played a lot, some repairs or cosmetic flaws possible
Fair condition--a well-loved guitar, may have some problems, but we'll describe them as accurately as possible
As-is--needs work
